Vestibular Rehabilitation

Dizziness, vertigo and imbalance are common symptoms that can be caused by many different conditions. A highly specialist assessment including an oculomotor examination, vestibular-ocular reflex testing, sensory integration assessments and positional manoeuvres will enable Anna to identify problems within the inner ear and the balance system which may be causing unsteadiness or dizziness.

A tailored programme of exercises will then be designed in collaboration with the client to re-train the brain through adaptation, habituation and/or substitution treatment approaches. This approach to reducing dizziness and improving balance is referred to as Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT). It is an evidence-based exercise therapy which helps a wide range of vestibular problems for example, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), vestibular neuronitis/labyrinthitis, vestibular migraine, Meniere’s disease, surgical removal of vestibular schwannomas and dizziness associated with neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis.

Anna is happy to accept self-referrals as well as referrals from health professionals. Click here for more information on Vestibular Rehabilitation. You can also ring or email Anna to discuss a problem prior to an initial assessment:
